“Someone is praying for the things you take for granted.”
I thought this quote was especially appropriate today as we talked about the devastation and tragedy and pray for the people in the Philippines.
The things that we have right this very second, someone out there is desperate for: food, water, shelter, clothing, safety. Do we think of how blessed we are? When we complain about the internet not being fast enough, the fact that the car is cold when we first get into it (now that it is winter), or how we ran out of milk and can’t have cereal in the morning?
The other thing that impressed me with this quote, is that sometimes the only thing you can do, when surrounded by tragedy and are in a desperate state, is pray.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the millions of families who are praying for a miracle.
SO true and so needed for me today! Thank you. I was beyond frustrated yesterday b/c I couldn’t upload a video and I had to stop and think “Seriously? THIS is what’s causing me to meltdown?” Perfect timing Leah.

I know, it happens to me all the time. And those things are frustrating, but we need to take a breath and remember to not let the little things consume us.
Very true and I took so much for granted last year before Hurricane Sandy hit here and then actually saw the devastation minutes from my own home. Just so scary and totally saying tons of prayers now for those in the Philippines.

Wow, that must have been something to be so close to such devastation. We really need to count our blessings!
A beautiful quote. I can’t get over the devastation. It is beyond comprehension.-Ashley
It really is…
What a great reminder!! I know that I take way to many things for granted every day and should be more appreciative. So easy to get all wrapped up in the little things surrounding us – thanks for a great quote and a very important reminder.

It is too easy to get lost in the pressures of daily life, but we really do need to stop and get some perspective!
I really love this quote and it is a great reminder. I’m in such a funk this week thinking I have nothing. Of course I have MANY things and I have something I love to do, but I’m not making money off of it so I’m feeling so low and worthless.
And I am so very lucky for many things.

It’s hard when we get in those funks – and we all get in them. Sometimes we KNOW we are blessed, but we just get so down on ourselves. Just need the occasional reminder:)
yes! thank you for this. tweeting this to my network.

This quote gutted me – thinking about those in the Philippines, as well as those around my corner who don’t have what I take for granted. Thank you for this today.

You’re welcome. It really hit me too…
Such an important reminder…and of course so relevant right now; in the Philippines and in our country as well. It almost feels overwhelming sometimes how blessed we are and how many others desperately need what we take for granted.

We are so blessed with all the simple things – never mind all the extras we really do have in this area of the world!
It really does give you perspective. It’s easy to get caught up with our problems until we see a real tragedy and realize how truly blessed we are. Another beautiful quote, thanks for sharing, Leah.

Forgive me for taking it here but it is my first thoughts! Men & women take their relationship for granted and don’t realize what a good thing they have until it’s gone! GONE to somebody who was praying for you just the way you were!

Relationships are one of the first things we take for granted. Being in a second marriage, both Rob and I are especially mindful to appreciate what we have – we know how fragile it can be!
I have NEVER heard that quote before!!! I absolutely love LOVE it!!! SO true. And SO many- hurting and praying for things we all take for granted every single day.
And all they can do is pray. Exactly Leah. Nailed it, girl.
XOXO

Oooph, this one kind of hit me. It just puts everything into perspective. My heart is with the Philippines, and you are right, sometimes all we can do is pray and honor those who suffer by practicing gratitude for what we have. So beautifully said, Leah!

Love. Remembering this to tell my kids when they get home. They should never forget how blessed they are.
