Quote of the Week

“Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It’s not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make. Period.”

I think this quote has come to mind many times over the past couple of weeks, so I had to use it!

At first, it seems kind of harsh.

I mean, there are SOME things that ARE completely out of our control.

There are SOME things that really do impact our lives in ways we can’t control.

BUT, we are always in control of our response, our reaction, how we “come out of it.”

We can only stay in “victim mode” so long! Then we need to take responsibility to make some changes and take control of our destiny.

That’s when we can be empowered and begin to feel so blessed that we were given the gift of free agency and the opportunities and choices to make an amazing life for ourselves, regardless of the “bad” that we may have encountered.

  1. Might be harsh, but for the most part we are indeed in control of our internal and external response to all around us. So, in essence, I guess I do agree with your quote of the week. Hope you are having a great one so far though 🙂

  2. I completely agree with this quote – in fact Chris and I have said something similar many times over the years. We both had to support ourselves from the time we graduated high school and worked very hard to do so. When I hear people who expect things to be handed to them without hard work first I can’t stand it – CHOICES!!

  3. ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY YES!!! TOO many people don’t take responsibility their entire life and create a path of victimization that they carry through every single turn.

There comes a point in everyone’s life, where they need to take control and OWN who their are despite the impact people have had on their lives…
