The other day I was talking to one of the parents in our soccer car pool. I happened to mention that Rob was going to be taking the kids this particular night as I had another commitment.
It is a pain in the butt car pool as it is an hour away, it’s in a sketchy area of town so there is nothing to do while you wait for the 1.75 hours, and then you end up getting home at 10:15. It sucks.
The other parent offered to do it.
He then said, “I don’t want Rob to have to do it, it’s not even his kid!!”
I laughed.
If we functioned like that we would never survive.
And, oh, how little this guy also knew about Rob.
Rob celebrates his birthday today. Finally, it does not fall on Father’s Day!
In the past, I have written things that I love about him corresponding to the age he is turning. Believe you me, I can do that easily.
But I created my usual little video and thought it pretty much shows how much we adore this guy – all of us. Wife, kids, step kids and Reggie.
He is the rock in our world. He keeps us all steady, he makes us laugh, he wipes our tears, he soothes our pains and holds us up. He encourages, praises, hugs, calms, tickles, teases, inspires, and teaches. He is one of the kindest, most humble men I know. He is also the smartest. He sets us straight and he is filled with integrity and respect.
I’m not sure what we would all be without this man.
The one I love.
Happy Birthday Robbie McHottie.
