2020 really not funny!
But without fear and to social distance we adhere
We begin our remembrance of the year!
We had two early birthdays that’d be Shannon and Josh
In hindsight we should have traveled and been more posh!
So we had big plans and were ready to make our way!
Before the fun started I even made it to Vienna for a ballet
But sadness and our Grammy
A tremendous loss!
Forget her never families are forever!
All had opinions it would seem, that something new and serious was looming yet unseen
It sounded like a beer
And garnered much fear
But we kept up the hope
And figured we would cope
So we departed on multiple journeys
Davidson Spanish meeting stymied by Donald, Joe and Bernie
Zandra in the land of sun and the lei
Zach in Tahiti and really could not stay
Leah and Rob in Barcelona for a day.
Stranded in Spain looking for flights what can we say
But wait that’s not all, not in the least!
Josh in bush planes and Botswana amongst wild beasts
And not to forget Sam to be on the slopes
But closed it would be, we were all on the ropes!!
Safely returned and landed from our planes
Lockdown and quarantine was our new source of pain
But all safe and sound we were blessed with health and protection
We even added Rachel to our quarantine section
Hair and the shears way above the ears,
Photos and memories to last the years!
What more could we take!
Oh my goodness hang on to your Frok!
We almost lost TikTok!!
Yet nestled in our home and hand sanitizer galore!
Washing everything from the grocery store
Leah a little older, a birthday karaoke set!
She decided it was time to start her life coaching big business bet!
Another birthday, this time it was Zu, no need to be coy
She was smitten with a boy!
But just when we thought we were rounding first
Josh’s appendix decided to burst!!
And then while we waited Zach got the call
A little eye roll and a little bit wary
Zach was off to Calgary!
Echoes of Tahiti however still rang true
Eventual Baptism of Terehau – Let’s Go!
With Gabe and Shannon away in their Idaho room
We all became really familiar with Zoom.
Three boys birthdays Zach, Gabe and Sam!
It felt like we were all isolated on the lamb
some local travel for Leah and me
Ontario beaches who knew so nice they could be!
And the two little boys biking around so cute!
Hello hello… you’re on mute!
And a ramp up to school, education the task
We were all told to wear a mask
And Zandra to King city she went
Remote school for her and you got it … some rent!
Even a short reprieve and some restaurants we did go
Only to find the government to again say no!
We witnessed an election of tremendous hilarity
The one time we’re were glad the US and Canada were not a parity
And the holidays of Halloween and thanksgiving were a bit dreary
And once again we were Covid weary
The reward of hard work and applications went in
The graduations of two!
Flushed with scholarship cash what will they do!
So now we are here, Santa on his way
On Dasher and Prancer and Pfizer they say!
We’re glad to be able to spend time today! So in Whoville fashion let’s all shout hooray!
We miss you Gran and Di
We say with a sigh
But Tonight we will dine on Swiss and Havarti
No Josh and Sam we didn’t forget the parties
So with love and good cheer
And the blessing of the saviour so near
We can all be refined in the light of the season
I am so happy for this reason!
